Congratulations on passing the CS Executive test. Now you only have one more step to achieve your Company Secretaryship of the three stages and your dream job
Students who have completed graduation will only have to undergo the Executive and Professional Programme stages.
To pursue the CS Course, candidates have to register themselves with the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) at each level. Once registered, candidates can appear for the respective level examination by filling out a separate examination form after completing the required period of study.
Now that you have successfully completed your CS Executive Programme, you can register for the CS Professional Programme. Read on to find everything you need to know about the CS Professional Programme.

The candidates registered under ICSI Syllabus 2017 shall be eligible to switch over from the date mentioned under Para F of the above table.
Furthermore, the students under ICSI Syllabus 2017 shall be entitled to two additional attempts under the 2017 scheme to clear their remaining module(s).
Pattern of the CS Professional Examination
- Mode of Examination: Descriptive
- For Elective Papers: Descriptive & Open Book
- Duration: 3 Hours (each paper)
- Marks: 100 Marks (each paper)

CS Professional passing criteria
Candidates shall be declared ‘PASS’ in CS Professional on securing 40% marks in each paper and 50% marks in the aggregate.
Paper-wise exemption on the basis of scoring 60% or more marks
- First Condition:
If a candidate appears in all the required papers covered under the module and scores at least 25% marks in each paper, he/ she shall become eligible for exemption in those paper(s)in which he/she scores 60% or more marks.
Example: If you secure the following marks in the previous examination in Module I of
Professional Programme Examination:
- CL- 26
- CMA- 65
- ECL- 62
- ITL-50
As per the First condition, you are eligible for exemptions in CMSL and ECL papers.
Example: If you secure the following marks in the previous examination in Module I of
Executive Programme Examination:
- CL- 23
- CMA-65
- ECL- 62
- ITL-50
As per the First condition, you are not eligible for exemptions in CMSL and ECL papers.
- Second Condition:
If a candidate appears in all the required papers covered under the module and fails in only one paper covered under the module, he/ she shall become eligible for exemption in the remaining papers, if he/she scores 60% or more marks are taken all such remaining papers together & at least 40% marks in each remaining paper.
Example: If you secure the following marks in previous examination in Module I of
Executive Programme Examination:
- CL- 26
- CMA- 65
- ECL- 62
- ITL-50
As per the Second condition, you are eligible for exemptions in CMSL, ECL & ITL papers.
Pre-Examination Requirement
Students registered under Executive and Professional programme under ICSI Syllabus 2022 will have to successfully complete a Pre-Examination Test to become eligible to enroll and appear in the Executive and Professional Examinations.
