INTRODUCTION
ongratulations on reaching the CS Executive, the second level to Company Secretaryship. To complete the CS Course, candidates have to clear the CS exams conducted by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) in three stages – CSEET, Executive and Professional.
A candidate has to get enrolled/ registered with ICSI at each level. After registration and the requisite period of study, the candidate is eligible to appear for the respective level examination by filling a separate examination form.
Once the candidate has passed CS Executive, they can register for CS professional. Let’s understand more about CS Executive.
Candidates who have passed the CSEET exams can register for the CS Executive Programme. The examination will be conducted in offline mode and you can choose the exam center while registering.
ICSI Syllabus 2022
ICSI Syllabus 2022 aims to inculcate principles, laws, and interpretation at the Executive Level.
The grouping of Papers under Group 1 of the Executive Programme is done keeping in view the critical aspects of ‘Ease of Learning’; ‘Balancing of Theoretical / Legal and Practical Papers’ and ‘Strengthening of fundamental concepts having relevance in the Papers covered under subsequent Group 2. So, the students are advised to give priority to Group 1 while appearing in the Executive Programme Examination.

Exemptions from CSEET Exam
- Candidates who have passed CS Foundation Programme shall be exempted from CSEET without any payment of exemption fee.
- Candidates who have passed the Final Examination of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and/or The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI) are exempted from CSEET and should ₹5000 (Rupees Five Thousand Only) towards exemption fee at the time of Registration to CS Executive Programme.
- All Graduates/ Post Graduates are exempted from CSEET without any payment of exemption fee.
Eligibility Conditions
- CS Foundation Pass
- CSEET – CS Executive Entrance Test Pass
- Foundation Examination Pass of The Institute of Cost Accountants of India
- Common Proficiency Test (CPT) or CA Foundation of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI)
- Arts, Science, and Commerce Graduates/ Post Graduates (excluding Fine Arts) are eligible for admission
- Candidates not less than 17 years of age
- Candidates possessing any of the following qualifications are exempted from passing CS Foundation or CSEET Programme:
- A degree or master’s degree in Corporate Secretaryship or Commerce; or
- Pass in Final examination of ICAI (Cost) or ICAI or any other Accountancy Institution in India or abroad recognized as equivalent thereto by the Council; or
- A degree or master’s degree in any discipline other than Fine Arts.
Routes for CS Executive Registration 2023

ICSI allows candidates to register for the CA Intermediate course through two routes:
- -The direct entry routes
- -The Foundation/CSEET route

- Foundation/CSEET Route
ICSI has divided the Company Secretary course into different levels – CS Foundation/ CSEET, CS Executive, and CS Professional. Candidates who qualify for the first level which is CS Foundation/ CSEET can move ahead with CS Executive 2023 registration. - Direct Entry Route
Candidates who have completed their graduation/post-graduation in Corporate Secretaryship or Commerce or in any discipline other than Fine Arts can directly take admission in the CA Intermediate course. Therefore, candidates taking admission through the direct entry route do not need to register or qualify CS Foundation/ CSEET exam.
Documents Required for CS Executive Registration 2023
Candidates must ensure that they have scanned copies of the following documents before filling out the application form-
- Candidate’s photograph and signature
- DOB Certificate (Class 10 pass certificate)
- Admit card for class 12 exam
- Qualification Certificates(Class 12-mark sheet or certificate/ICAI/ ICMAI Final pass certificate/ Graduation pass certificate/Graduation Consolidated mark sheets/ Post Graduation pass certificate/ Consolidated mark sheets) Category certificate (other than general)
- ID proof (Aadhar card/passport/PAN card/driving license/ration card)

CS Executive Qualifying Marks:
To qualify CS Executive exam level, candidates need to secure a minimum of 40% marks in each paper and an aggregate of 50% in all papers (single/ both modules).
Paper-wise exemption on the basis of scoring 60% or more marks
The exemptions on the basis of securing 60% or more marks are granted under the following two conditions:
- First Condition:
If a candidate appears in all the required papers covered under the module and scores at least 25% marks in each paper, he/ she shall become eligible for exemption in those paper(s)in which he/she scores 60% or more marks.
Example: If you secured the following marks in the previous examination in Module I of
Executive Programme Examination:
- CL – 26
- CMA – 65
- ECL- 62
- ITL -50
As per the First condition, you are eligible for exemptions in CMSL and ECL papers.
Example: If you secured the following marks in the previous examination in Module I of
Executive Programme Examination:
- CL – 23
- CMA – 65
- ECL- 62
- ITL – 50.
As per the First condition, you are not eligible for exemptions in CMSL and ECL papers.

Second Condition:
If a candidate appears in all the required papers covered under the module and fails in only one paper covered under the module, he/ she shall become eligible for exemption in the remaining papers, if he/she scores 60% or more marks are taken all such remaining papers together & at least 40% marks in each remaining paper.
Example: If you secured the following marks in the previous examination in Module I of
Executive Programme Examination:

As per the Second condition, you are eligible for exemptions in CMSL, ECL & ITL papers.
Pre-Examination Requirement
Students registered under Executive and Professional programme under ICSI Syllabus 2022 shall have to successfully complete a Pre-Examination Test to become eligible to enroll and appear in the Executive and Professional Examinations.
