The CS (Company Secretary) is a 3-year professional course equivalent to a UG degree. It includes 3 level of exams which includes: foundation, executive and professional level exams.
The qualification for each of the exam differs from each other. Also, company secretary aspirants need to crack all the three exams to get certified as a company secretary. The exam for CS is conducted by the only recognized professional body in India to develop and regulate the profession of Company Secretaries i.e., the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI). The qualification for the Company Secretary exams is decided by the ICSI. For the foundation program, one has to complete 10th/+2. One has to attend 3 levels (Foundation, Executive, Professional) of examination to pursue CS course.
The foundation program for company secretary exam is an 8-month long course. In this course the basic elements of CS are teached. Hence, this is one of the shortest courses among the others.
